I have 2 of these cameras as of right now and I’m giving it a four star rating purely because durning the set up process it is very difficult to use the camera in the app to scan the QR code , it doesn’t want to focus. Once you get it set up past that point they are excellent cameras

Purchased 2 of the R4G Lites this spring to put out in Kansas instead of having a friend check them for me. Being anywhere from 6-15 hours away from where they would be depending on where work has me, I needed a camera that would be maintenance free. These have been just that. Any questions I had, were answered immediately in email. The app and webpage for the camera are very user friendly, it is easy to change plans, and the images are great without requesting HD. Battery life is good, have had to change the batteries 3 times, 2 of the times were due to defective batteries that only lasted ~1 week. With new batteries installed, the cameras have lasted months taking thousands of pictures. Setup was easy, put batteries in, power on, click format, hook up to app.

Best trail camera I’ve come across, only been running it since the start of this season and it blows my other cell cams out of the water. App is very user friendly and picture quality is unmatched.

You can not go wrong with black gate! I won my first black gate at the WCB shewt, I was super stoked about giving them a try seeing as that I had 2 of 4 of my other cell cameras from another brand crap out within a year. In a month I realized I was having a battery issue so I reached out. Super fast response from black gate but figured I needed an external power source so I went to the FB group and asked for recommendations and got some great DIY options but also got a message from Ryan (owner of black gate) he reached out personally and helped me work through the issue and it’s been perfect. I had the best customer service experience with black gate that I have ever had! They give a shit, the cameras are badass you can’t go wrong!

I've been running a mix of different brands for several years. I recently came across black gate and had to give them a shot. I got the R4G lite with solar panel and it arrived extremely fast. the r4g lite had my impressed right off the bat with the feel of the camera. it just feels durable and like it will withstand the extreme elements. The setup was smooth and simple. The R4g lite chose the strongest signal and linked up with no problem. the day pics are just as good as the HD pics from competitors cameras. The night pics are clear and the trigger speed is FAST. I would like to see the wifi aiming for camera placement similar to tactacam has. Aiming the camera blind isn't hard but it definitely would be easier with some sort of aiming through the black gate app.

This is my first ever trail cam. Couldn't be happier with everything...from picture quality, to ease of use, to cell signal. Just a great product and as long as I hunt I don't ever plant to switch to another brand.

First time using a cellular camera. I’m not a techie guy, so that was a little time consuming, but I got through it. I put my cameras up in trees 12-15 feet high. I was on the ladder and my brother in-law was on the ground with my phone helping get the correct angle. They work great. Clean and clear pictures. We were getting pictures of deer two hours after we got the cameras set. I would highly recommend the R4G Lite camera!

Exceptional picture quality. Super simple setup. After several seasons of using other brands, I’m glad I made the switch. Truly amazed at how good Black Gate products are. Will order another 5 closer to deer season!

Very good quality camera for the price. Picture quality and setup are great. Some app settings could be a little more adjustable but overall these are great cameras

So far I like the camera..takes great pics. The software is alittle different. I have a moultrie cell cam also.but so far impressed with the camera and data plans..

Had camera lil over 2 months and so far I like it and it’s better and way cheaper that SPYPOINT cameras. Will be buying more come next hunting season and selling my Spypoint cameras that’s a fact.

I bought 4 of the R4G LITE back July and gave an initial review shortly after, but 6 months of use I give these cameras 4 stars. Issues have been relatively minor except that 1 of the 4 cameras has stopped working. I noticed a lot of corrosion in the battery pack and the camera lights will turn on, buts that about it. I have not contacted Black Gate about this issue yet, but I will soon, and I'll give an update on my experience. If it wasn't for the broken camera, I would have given 5 stars. I ran these cameras over bait all year, and I woke up to hundreds of quality pictures every morning. One thing I noticed with these cameras is that after 6 months and thousands of pictures, I never saw a deer look at, or be spooked by the camera. Never once! I think this is a big deal, a very big deal. Bucks this year just seemed to come back day after day, instead of making an appearance once a week and starring at the camera the whole time. There was a time or two I know I walked past the cameras while in the woods, and never received a picture of myself. How often this happens is unknown but, I have come to expect this in all cameras no matter the brand. Maybe a spider was blocking the trigger mechanism lol? I put these 4 cameras in 6 different locations, and 5 of the locations worked fine, but one of the locations did not, due to no cell service. It did send a handful of pics in this location, but they were all several days old each time. Battery life could be better, but these cameras took a lot of pictures every day, so I won't hold that against them too much. I recently got solar panels for all of them hoping that would help but have not had a chance to try it out yet. I will be purchasing more in the future, along with the original R4G this year for the video ability.

Ive used Spartan, SPYPOINT and Bushnell cell cams and these will out perform them all. Easy to use. Excellent battery life.

Quality cameras and quality pictures. My son was very surprised and excited to get two more of these for Christmas gifts. The customer service we have received since becoming a customer has been exceptional.

The camera takes great, high quality pictures and the app is easy to set up. Lots of data plans to choose from. Love the duel sim card technology. However my only con is that the antenna is very floppy. It screws in tight to the camera, but remains floppy and can be difficult to position it upright.

These take quality pictures and I like the option where you can choose how many pictures you want it to send you once the camera is triggered so you don’t miss anything.

I switched from a much more expensive camera and LOVE the BlackGate R4G Lite so far. It’s been in the woods for a week and the pictures are crisp and consistent. The app is relatively easy to use and has neat weather data info recorded with each photo taken. It could use a couple updates like making it easier to select photos and add them to different galleries for organization. The tab is available in the app but I have no photos in the gallery because I have no way of selecting photos to add to the gallery. I’m waiting for the R4G (with video) to get back in stock and going to purchase one of those as well. The data plan is competitive with any other top trail camera brands if not slightly more affordable.

You just set it up, pick a plan, and relax and enjoy the photos sent to your phone! Photos are clear and photo transmission is quick, will definitely be recommending Black Gate!

Great camera with super clear photos.

This is my first ever Cell Cam. Anything I could say about this camera doesn't do it justice. You won't regret purchasing this one. I've compares this camera to other brands that my brother was using. hands down blackgate is the best camera in the business. Blackgate had better service any where I placed. Blackgate had cheaper plans by about 2 dollars plus in some cases way more photos. camera takes great pictures. It is also Super easy to get set up and use. super excited to see what else is to come in the future!

I’m running 14 cell cameras 9 of them being black gates and the 5 other cameras are 2 very popular brands and by far the blackgates are head and shoulders above the others in picture quality and affordability with the data plans. I plan on selling the other brands I have at the end of season and purchasing more blackgates.

Im running 3 R4G Lite so far so good. I have full service everywhere I placed them and picture quality is great. Pictures get sent to me super fast.

Only had the camera out for a few days and already love it so much more than my stealth cam that it replaced. Have very little service where I hunt and I was lucky to get pictures every couple days with my old camera. With the R4G lite I am getting pictures within a couple minutes.

Great canera for the price..

I’m a new Black Gate trail camera user for about 1 week so far I’m very satisfied with the cam performance and plan to purchase another. I own the R4g lite as photos are adequate to me and especially considering the smaller size and less visually conspicuous the unit is compared to the larger build of the video capable unit.

Absolute best option when it comes to cellular trail cameras , I’ve tried several brands other brands on none come close to comparison. Customer service is unbeatable, I’ve FB messaged them direct several times and have had answers and solutions within hours .

So far I'm impressed with the service. I put the camera in an area that gets little to no cell service. Basically have to be 25 ft up a tree and on high ground to get service and drive a few miles to the top of a hill to make phone calls home. Tried other cell cams and they just wouldn't connect. Not this one, it connected immediately and the HD photos better than any other cam i have or have seen. The data plan is different than others and I'm curious to see how it works out, amount of photos vs megabyte/gigabyte. Battery life and durability is something time will tell and have not had long enough to tell. But, if that follows suit, it's a great camera. So far so good

Solid purchase thus far. Love the app and data it provides per pic. Price point is a big win here for such a high quality product. Fours stars rating as I feel while the setup was easy, navigation was clunky going in and out of the app and a browser to complete initial setup. Rolling this all in the app would improve user experience.

So far so good, pictures are very clear compared to Browning and tactacams. Had trouble at first with the SD card purchased through Black Gate, but I ended up using one I had already and she fired up. Love the plan options, I want cell cameras in a few spots where I know I'm not going to get a lot of pictures so its nice to have a cheap option. upload seems to be very fast. Bought one as a trial after a lot of positive online comments, I'll be buying a few more.

Use these cameras to watch my property two hours away. Nice clear pictures, very satisfied.

Currently running two R4G Lites and so far performance has been outstanding. The multi carrier sim is critical for the areas I hunt.

This is my first time using a cellular trail cam. I am very impressed with the photos and how well it is working. In an area with limited cell service but still working like a champ. It's been a real good camera so far. I've had it for about 2 weeks now. Really been enjoying seeing the deer coming into my hunting spot. Great camera for the price.

I have used tactacams since they came out and the black gate Image quality is superior to tactacams. Also cheaper and that is why I switch to BG!

1st time using a cellular camera. Very impressed with picture quality and ease of use.

So far the cameras have been great, I love the latest update that displays wind direction, speed, and pressure. Purchased 4 cameras 1 is not working but that may be due to me not setting it up correctly. So I would like to check on that before just blaming the camera, Going to go pick that one back up and see if it was a user issue. Great price point and quality of pics seems good. Overall very happy with my purchase.

The only reason i am giving four stars is because the directions could have been a little better. Otherwise a great camera. would purchase another one

Just got my camera set up about two weeks ago not much traffic yet. I did get a couple pictures. The quality of the pictures are excellent. The camera was easy to set up. I will definitely be buying some more.

Finally a company that designs for their customer the hunter . I love everything about this cam.

I’ve been running tactacams and SPYPOINT for last several years. Tactacams have been costing me $50/ month and SPYPOINTs $30/month. Once I heard of these cameras and seen the data plans I bought 3 of them. They will save me $400 plus a year. They have been the easiest cameras to set up and take awesome pictures.

Haven't had it long enough to give it 5 stars yet. So far though picture quality is as good as any other camera I have, super easy to set up and battery life seems good thus far for a cell camera. Would definitely buy again.

I bought 4 of the R4G Lite's off Herd 360 last week. The only issue I've had is that they are not compatible with the free SIM card that Herd 360 gives you, which is a bummer. I called Black Gate's customer service about it and Ryan (the owner of company) picked up the phone. I think it's fair to say that the customer service is great! No other issues arose after consulting with Ryan. So far so good!

Only had this camera out for a few days but the picture quality is the best I've ever experienced. The video feature is top notch and the platform is easy to use!! Love this thing!!
